Future Imagining

Is it odd to miss a time when I could drink from a stream?

To listen to the sounds of leaves and water flowing.

To have a memory of a thing you have never known.

To miss when I knew how to forage for food, build a shelter, live by the cycle of the year.

To sit in a tree and watch a wolf pack pass and knowingly nod their heads. We are kin.

To share the land with bears and their families.

To look up and see flocks of birds in brilliant colors overhead.

                               Singing their lovely songs.

A tear comes to my eye knowing this was true where I stand now.

When nature was a friend.

The memories lie in my DNA.

I miss these things.

How may we look back to move forward?

For this pathway you are to create a vision of what the future could look like if people learn from Indigenous people.
