The Path we wil Take

Lesson Overview

In a circle all are equal.

Look for circles in astronomy, botany, geology, zoology.

Using Two Eyed Seeing and Indigenous Ways of Knowing is taking what we know from our traditional education to look at the world through an Indigenous lens.

To your left is a graphic of the flow of the lesson. Like life it will change and be made better when we learn together. Each year I become a better person by learning with and through my students.

Intro assignment: Where do you see or observe circles or cycles?

Documentary Zoom with Hallie Sanclemente Morrison

"Essential Voyage: Indigenous Wisdom Will Save Us All" is a surreal, environmental short film based on true stories and real dreams from Hallie's journey of “becoming indigenous to place," as a first-generation Colombian-American born onto the unceded and traditional homelands of many Native American peoples. From dreams of antiquated stoves and hyper-individualism, to talking with plants and being denied travel for lacking an Earth Protection agenda, this film visualizes some of the ways that human and non-human beings are communicating with us to protect Mother Earth.

The film was created for the international group exhibition, "Cities of The Future: Living Together," hosted by the Association for Computing Machinery's Creativity & Cognition conference (virtual, 2021; Venice, Italy, 2022.) The film has since been screened as a community dialogue tool across many international audiences.

Above is another version of the path of the unit. It includes some of my favorite animals.

Opossum are North America's only marsupials, eat fleas and ticks, and are gentle creatures.

Turtles are not only intelligent and important members of many ecosystems, but they play a part in the cosmology of Turtle Island.
